What does a Fire Inspector do?

Overview:

Your fire inspectors don't want to ruin your life. But sometimes it may feel like that. Be respectful and communicate with them at all times. Most inspectors will work with you if you're upfront with them. They are there to help prevent fire hazards that may save lives and your business.

Action Tools:

Don’t try to fool your fire inspector. They are not your enemy. They are there for everyone’s safety.
Fire inspectors use the NFPA Life Safety Code. Items such as hallway/door width, fire suppression, fire extinguishers, fire proofing, extension cord usage, emergency exits, & emergency lighting.
Fire inspection checklists are determined by the “Occupancy” of your building. How many people that you have inside at one time and the function of the building.
Each fire inspection is unique to that area and building. Your situation is unique to your location, who is inspecting, and which codes are enforced in your area.
